EchoBoy widener trick for snares
I can’t remember who showed me this or where i learnt it, but thank you anyway!!!
Let’s say you have a clap, snare or both layered but it sounds a little too mono. Give this setting a go on SoundToys EchoBoy. It’s not a dramatic effect, just adds enough to subtle widen. Has it’s own unique vibe and does not sound like anything . After that you can add reverbs, delays, a bit of distortion, whatever rocks your boat.
Try these setting on SoundToys Echoboy next time your in the studio
I started with the default setting and went from there, never touched Style Edit parameters. You can make the width even wider by turning up the mix knob, or choose another style and see what over on the Saturation section. Your options are endless, but this get you off the ground.
